The chief justice of The Gambia has confirmed to the Daily Observer newspaper that he would soon be back in The Gambia to resume his duties and responsibilities as the country’s chief justice.

Emmanuel Akomaye Agim made this disclosure Thursday, dispelling rumours that he has left the Gambia Judiciary to pick up an appointment elsewhere. He dismissed the rumours as baseless, inappropriate and fabricated by people who hate to see the country progress. He stated that he is still in the employment of the Gambia government as the chief Justice of the Republic of The Gambia.

“My boss, the president of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh, graciously permitted my leave of absence. He is aware of the recognition accorded me by the Kingdom of Swaziland, which is in essence recognition of the high quality of the Gambia Judiciary,” CJ Agim added.
