Foundation Humanitarian Aid Gambia (FHAG) and Future In Our Hands (FIOH), both NGOs working in The Gambia, on Wednesday, April 1st 2009, signed a D378.000 contract.

The contract was signed for the construction of the new teachers quarters for Nafugan Lower Basic School, one of the FHAG-sponsored schools. The school was suffering from limitations in staff accommodation and since then, most of the staff have been commuting from Basse everyday, as the old staff quarters are totally ruined and cannot actually house anyone.

In order to motivate teachers, FHAG, together with the Dutch foundation found it fitting to intervene in this project in a bid to complement government efforts in making education accessible to all. The project is contracted to Future In Our Hands (FIOH).

The contract signing ceremony took place at the FIOH headquarters in Kotu and the board expressed their gratitude to the board of the Dutch-based foundation, Stichting Humanitaire Hulp Gambia (SHHG) for their support.
