Coco Ocean boss’ alleged assailants’ trial set for judgement

Justice Abdulahi Mikailu of the High Court in Banjul has set a date to deliver judgement in the criminal trial involving Mohammed Carew and Modou Jaw two accused persons alleged to have attacked and robbed one Farid Bensouda, the Coco Ocean boss at his residence in Kerr Serign on the 21st April 2012.
The accused persons are charged with four counts indictment of robbery with violence, conspiracy to murder, attempt to murder and conspiracy to commit felony contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
The prosecution led by DPP, S.H Barkum called eight witness and tendered several exhibits including the accused persons cautionary and voluntary statements, the alleged L.G mobile phone belonging to Farid Bensouda recovered in the 1st accused person (Mohammed Carew’s) house, blood stained clothing belonging to Bensouda amongst others, in support of the prosecution case.
The accused persons, Mohammed Carew and Modou Jaw entered their defence as lone witnesses. After the close of the case, both sides addressed the court orally yesterday, 19th June 2012 following the close of the addresses from both parties, the presiding judge, Justice Abdulahi Mikailu adjourned the matter for judgement on the 26th June, 2012.
