Comfort Mineral case D100,000 bail for accused

One Tijan Jawo on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrates Court charged with stealing from the Comfort Mineral Water Company.

Tijan Jawo and two other men, Sarjo Bah and Halifa Jallow, were said to have stolen 8 bundles of aluminium profile valued at D332,000 from the mineral water company. Tijan Jawo had pleaded not guilty while his co-accused were convicted after they pleaded guilty.

When the case resumed at the Kanifing Magistrates Court on Wednesday, the accused was granted bail in the sum of D100,000 with two Gambia sureties. The police prosecutor, Inspector Touray appeared for the IGP.  The trial was adjourned to the 9th of February 2009.
