Thursday, February 19, 2009
The Bansang Sare Soffie village Health Workers Association last  Saturday, embarked on a general cleansing exercise at the Police Intervention Unit (PTU) barracks in Yerro Berri Kunda (Y.B.K) in the Upper Fulladou West, Central River Region South.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, Hon. Muhamadou 5 Jallow, the National Assembly memer for Upper Fulladou West, spoke at length on the importance of cleanliness. He saluted his people for the positive turnout noting that this is due to the cordial relationship existing between the communities and the security  personnel in the region and urged them to maintain it.

Demba Baldeh, the president of the association said the association comprised of one hundred and nine villages with over two hundred members. He expressed appreciation to the members for the positive turnout. He further highlighted the importance of such an exercise, which he described as in response to the clarion call by President Jammeh. Alpha Mballow, the advisor of the association, said that a healthy community is the bedrock of any meaningful socio-economic development.

He urged members to take up Operation Clean the Nation seriously and thanked them for their response. The exercise was graced by the commissioner of PIU, Biran Mbye, with other security chiefs in the region.
