Consul general Budeiri discloses investment plans![]() Wednesday, September 12, 2012 The Gambia’s honorary consul general in Jordan has disclosed areas where he wants to attract more foreign investors from that part of the Middle East to come and invest in crucial sectors in The Gambia. Dr Ahmed Budeiri was speaking to reporters Tuesday shortly after having audience with the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, at State House. Budeiri, who is also The Gambia’s consul general to Syria and the Palestinian Authority, during his meeting with the vice president, also made a power point presentation with regards to enhancing the Gambian leader’s vision to put the country on the world map as a hub for the West African region. He said: “Now we are working on security training such as defence, police force and army training among other trainings, as Jordan is very advanced in such services areas among other Middle East countries. Budeiri said since he was appointed as the consul general for The Gambia in Jordan, Syria and the Palestine Authority seven years ago, he has been trying to do his utmost to serve the best interest of both The Gambia and Jordan’. “This
presentation was done and attended by cabinet ministers and I think it is
fruitful enough for this time. Well, my intention is to have investors coming
into The Gambia and start projects here such as agriculture, industries and
tourism as well as perhaps airline industry in The Gambia,” he added. He
disclosed that the vice president and the cabinet ministers all welcomed the
idea and assured that they are working on most of the areas as well. He continued: “The next time is to wait for various ministries and see their request for certain projects they are in need with regards to investors in order to kick-start the wheel running in The Gambia. As we discussed in the meeting ringing your money investors and let’s start working.” Budeiri further stated that his mission is to enhance relations between The Gambia and Jordan, adding that he helped bring a Jordanian company, to do the electricity company for the Gambia four years ago.
