Convict withdraws appealThursday, September 03, 2009 One Ebrima Jallow, a convict has withdrawn his notice of appeal, which was filed before the Special Criminal Court of Justice presided over by Justice Moses Richards. The convict had filed a notice of appeal asking the court for a reduction of his sentence. Ebrima Jallow was convicted and sentenced by the Farafenni Magistrates Court on the criminal charge of assault causing actual bodily harm by Magistrate Sherifff Tabally on March 18, 2009. The convict was sentenced to a fine of D50,000 in default to spend 3 years six months in prison. When the matter came up, the convict told the court that he intended to withdraw his application. The deputy director of Public Prosecution, DDPP Mikailu Abdulahi, raised no objection to this. The presiding judge accordingly struck out the convict's notice of appeal.
