Convicted robber appealsMonday, May 25, 2009 One Zac Gabba, a convict, now serving four years imprisonment with hard labour for allegedly robbing one Ida Drammeh and Kadijatou Ceesay in January 2007, was recently arraigned before Justice Wowo of the High Court in Banjul after he filed an appeal against his conviction and sentence by the lower court. The convict was alleged to have attempted robbing one Ida Drammeh of her hand bag, in January 7, 2007 along the Post Office Road in Kanifing Municipality and to have robbed Kadijatou Ceesay of one lady bag, cash amounting to D1,500, body spray and two bangles at the same place and day. It was revealed that during the trial, the convict pleaded not guilty, but the count later found him guilty on two counts of attempted robbery, after the prosecution called witnesses and tendered exhibits. The court further believed that the prosecution proved its case beyond all reasonable doubts when it convicted, sentenced and ordered him to pay the sum of D5,000 as compensation to Ida Drammeh and also to pay the sum of D30,000 as compensation to Kadijatou Ceesay.
