Batch Jangeun, an interpreter at the Kanifing Magistrate court yesterday appeared before Senior Magistrate Sainabou Wadda- Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrate court.

Batch Jangeun is claiming that his own nephew, Ya fatou Deen, owed him an amount of D11,873.00. According to the particulars of the claim, Ya Fatou Deen, the defendant was given the sum of D10, 000 to be handed over to Batch Jangeun, the complainant, who instead took the money for her own personal use. According to the complainant, he had made repeated demands to recover the said money but to no avail.

The defendant was then given a one month period by the court to settle the money. The case was then adjourned to 6th March 2009.
