Justice Moses Richards of the Special Criminal Court in Banjul yesterday ordered that one Mariama Singhateh be medically examined before she stands trial.

Justice Richards made this order following a motion filed by the accused's counsel, Lawyer Sidney Riley, requesting the court to make an order for the accused to be examined medically to determine whether she is of a sound enough mind to enter her defense.

Mr Riley disclosed that they are not opposing that the trial be stopped now that the trial have reached a stage where the accused have to enter her defense. At some point during the session, the accused person seem to display some signs of abnormality as she was incoherently mumbling.
