A three-day training on court reporting for journalists from both the print and electronic media, organised by the Media Agenda and funded by UNESCO/NATCOM was yesterday concluded at the Gambia Press Union headquarters along the Garba Jahumpa road in Bakau New Town.  

Over twenty journalists, who mainly specialise on court reporting, took part in the training meant to effectively enhance their capacities. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Madi MK Ceesay, director of Media Agenda expressed hope that the training will uplift and boost the morale of the trainees to effectively carry out their work, producing what he called a "balanced and accurate reporting."  

He further stated that this brings the total number of journalists trained to eighty-five, and promised to train another eighty-five. Ceesay then urged the young journalists to continue updating themselves and to read hard so as to achieve their desired goals. He also thanked UNESCO/NATCOM for funding the training.

For her part, Maimuna Sidibeh, a representative from UNESCO/NATCOM, observed that the issues discussed at the training were very significant. She promised UNESCO/NATCOM's unflinching support to journalists and noted that they willcontinue to collaborate with the Media Agenda for such trainings. The closing ceremony included the awarding of certificates to participants.
