Creative young artist discovered in Basse

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

The world of creativity and talent has no limitation as they are gifts from our creator. One person gifted with such creative mind is 10-year-old Ebrima Baldeh, from Basse Mansajang Kunda, in the Upper River Region of The Gambia.

He is a grade five pupil at the St. Georges Lower Basic School in Basse. His rare creativity in artistic works is exceptional and more than his age. Ebrima has the ability to design various items; such as a house fixed with lighting system, installation of a fan inside the house, drawing of an airplane, cow that looks like a real cow among others, which stroke the imagination of his own parents and neighbours both within Mansajang Kunda and beyond.

In a brief chat with the Daily Observer’s URR correspondent, Alieu Ceesay, the ten-year-oldspoke about his creativity and the ability to do what he perceived to be a gift from God and encouraging words he kept on receiving from his parents and members of the society about his works. He said he did not learn the skill in any conventional schools or skills centre; rather it’s natural to him.

According to him, it normally takestwo days to complete his artistic works. He did not rule out support from the general public to enable him pursue his instinct in the world of creativity through discovery of more artistic works in the future.
