Cricket Association bags 8 awards in South AfricaWednesday, May 16, 2012 The Gambia Cricket Association won eightawards at the recently concluded International Cricket Council qualifying rounds for the world cup heldin South Africa. This was revealed to Observer Sports by Johnny Gomez, the president of the Association. He said the awardsinclude Atish Yadav with 4 awards, man of the match, and best batsman, David P Johnson man of the match, Gabriel Njie man of the match, Anisu Conteh best bowler of the tournament, and Gambia as best developed team. Gomez said that the activities of the Association is based in the Western Division, a region he said has a passionate love for sport. He added that they are making plans to extend the game countrywide, and also to start it at the grassroots level in which they are targeting the schools to bring about 2000 youths into the game.
