CRR commended for establishing farms for President Jammeh

Africa » Gambia
Monday, September 06, 2010
The governor of the Central River Region (CRR) Alhaji Ganyie Touray has commended the people of his region for cultivating over 28 farms for President Jammeh this rainy season, noting that the people of the region have demonstrated their loyalty to the Gambian leader.

The governor made the remarks during his tour of President Jammeh's farms in CRR on Tuesday 31st August  2010. He said the people of CRR have answered to President Jammeh's call for people to go 'back-to-the-land', saying that "it is an important step towards the realisation of our noble goals in the attainment of food self-sufficiency".

Governor Touray further noted that President Jammeh toils under the rain and the sun to finance a foundation (Jammeh Foundation) that provides scholarship to needy students. The regional farm coordinator, Abdoulie Boye commended all those who participated in both the sowing and weeding of the farms. He further spoke at length on President Jammeh's commitment to the welfare of Gambians, and urged the people of CRR to maintain the momentum.
