Africa » Gambia
Friday, September 18, 2009
The communities of Sami, Upper Fulladu and Lower Fulladu  Districts in  the Central River Region, last weekend turned out in large numbers to weed President Jammeh's rice farm in Janjangbureh.

The weeding exercise was led by the regional governor, Alhaji Ganyie Touray with the support of the various district chiefs. Addressing the people during the exercise, Governor Touray thanked them for their loyalty to President Jammeh and urged them to strengthen their unflinching support to the APRC government.

He called on them to take up farming seriously noting that it is the only way forward to eradicate global food crises and meeting the food self-sufficiency desire. Kibboh Leigh, the chief of Sami District, hailed President Jammeh's effort in strengthening agricultural activities in the country and assured of his unflinching support to the president. The Janjanbureh president's farm coordinator, Abdoulie Baye, commended the people of CRR for their hard work and dedication. He reiterated the call for people to support President Jammeh and his government.
