Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, August 05, 2009
Orami Sosay, a Cuban medical doctor residing in Old Jeswang, on Monday, gave her  testimony as the first prosecution witness in the ongoing criminal trial involving three accused persons, Modou Camara, Malick Konateh and Ebrima Njie.

They are charged with house breaking and stealing, which they deny. Testifying before Senior Magistrate Mbake, Sosay told the Kanifing Magistrates Court that on the 23rd of July 2009, while she was out of her house, she she received a telephone call from her roommate informing her that some men had broken into her house and stolen some items. She informed the court that she also received a similar message from her boss.

According to her, she later came back to check her house, and found out that some her properties, including a Samsung television set, a DVD player, some jewelleries, a printer and a photocopier -all amounting to D51, 000, were stolen. She further told the court that the matter was reported to the Kanifing Estate police. She added that only her TV was recovered. Police prosecutor, 319 Jobe, stood in for the IGP.
