The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh yesterday evening returned to Banjul, as the 2010 'Dialogue with the people tour' reaches its climax. The president had spent the last seven days in fruitful dialogue with the people  across the length and breadth of the country.

Tens of thousands of people of all ages lined up the streets from Kanilai, the birth place of the president, to Banjul, to accord the Gambian leader and the entourage a befitting and rousing welcome, which was characterised by singing and dancing.

President Jammeh and entourage were received at the entrance to every administrative region by officials of that region. The people of Western Region escorted the president and his delegation up to Abuko, where they were met by officials of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).

The KMC officials then escorted the Gambian leader and his entourage to Denton Bridge, where the mayor of Banjul ,Samba Faal, and officials of the Banjul City Council were on hand to welcome them. The BCC officials eventually escorted the president to State House in Banjul. Meanwhile, the tour is scheduled to continue in the Western Region, KMC and finally Banjul shortly after the celebrations marking the 16th Anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution.

The rousing welcome accorded to President Jammeh and delegation on his return to Banjul provided the  people the opportunity to profess their appreciation and gratitude for the numerous infrastructural developments brought to their doorsteps by the Gambian leader. During the procession, many people could be heard expressing gratitude to the president for transforming the country within such a short period of time. Many also utterred prayers for him and his government.
