CUSA calls for United States of AfricaFriday, August 27, 2010 The need for a United States of Africa topped the agenda when members of the Campaign for a United States of Africa (CUSA) paid a courtesy call on the Senegalese High Commission in Pipeline yesterday. The meeting was meant for CUSA, which is a non-profit organisation working towards the realisation of a United States of Africa, to acquaint the Senegalese High Commissioner on their aims and objectives, plan of action as well as its upcoming extraordinary conference scheduled for 24th October 2010. Speaking at the meeting, Thomos Fuad Touray, the president of the organisation thanked the Senegalese High Commission for receiving them. He said the realisation of the dream of a United States of Africa calls for concerted efforts from all Africans, pointing out that if such is achieved, conflicts and other forms of violence in the continent will end. He used the meeting to inform the officials about their forthcoming conference, reflecting on the successful hosting of last year's conference attended by over 350 participants. He commended the heads of state of Senegal and The Gambia for their continued concern, vision and enthusiasm towards the realisation of a United States of Africa. He finally assured of the High Commission's support at all times.
