D1.2M Mosque foundation stone laid in Farafenni

The Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat in The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, last Saturday laid the foundation stone of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s mosque worth D1.2M in Farafenni Wharf Town, opposite the Farafenni Senior Secondary School. The Amir also inaugurated a new library for the Ahmadiyya at the same place in Farafenni, North Bank Region.

Speaking at the occasion, Osutas Hifazat Ahmad Naveed, the Area Missionary for the North Bank Region, expressed gratitude to the people of Farafenni for their support. He also thanked the government of The Gambia for giving them the opportunity to build mosques to enable their members and people of the area have easy access for their daily prayers.

For his part, Baba Trawally said building of mosques is one of the objectives of the Ahmadiyya Mission in The Gambia. He added that the mission has also built many other mosques, schools and hospitals as part of their obligations in promoting Islam and to help the needy.  He revealed that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat is now present in 200 hundred countries around the world. He commended the government of The Gambia for providing the conducive environment for them to practice their religion in their own way.

Amir Trawally also called on parents to send their children to Arabic schools to promote the teaching and learning of Islam. The alkalo of Farafenni, Lang Suruwa Dibba, thanked the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat for their immense contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
