Principal Magistrate Edrissa Mbaye of the Banjul Magistrates Court, yesterday granted one Ebrima Jeng and Mbaye Jeng court bail in the sum of one million dalasis each after they pleaded not guilty to five counts of receiving stolen properties.

In addition, their sureties are required to deposit title deed of properties which should be within the Greater Banjul Area. Both accused persons are also required to surrender their travel documents and should not travel out of the jurisdiction without written approval from the Inspector General of Police. They are also required to make themselves available to the court each time the court needs them.

According to the prosecution,  the duo, on March 23rd 2009, at Tobaccco  Road  and Number 14 New Street in Banjul received 9 cartons of a pharmaceuticals drug, Capotil 25, and other medical items from one Sarjo Dampha, a store keeper at the Medical and Health Central store. The IGP was represented by Cadet Inspector Keita, while lawyer Sidney Riley appeared for the  accused person. The trial continues on March 20, 2009.
