D200, 000 bail bond for alleged fraudster

One Alagie Boye, a resident of Serrekunda was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Sheriff Tabally. The accused was charged with obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused in the year 2009 at Serrekunda in the Kanifing Municipality with intent to defraud, and by false pretence, obtained the sum of D85, 000 from one Modou Kah by selling him a shop which he (accused) knewdoes not belong to him, and which representation was false, thereby committed an offence. The accused denied the allegations.

The prosecutor, 1st Class 3217 Camara applied for an adjournment to call witness. He was granted bail in the sum of D200, 000 with one Gambian surety, who must deposit his/her national ID card. Hearing continues on the 7th May 2012.
