D7,500 fine for duo

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, July 08, 2009
Magistrate Olajibutu Kayode of the Bundung Magistrates Court on Tuesday convicted  and sentenced Abdouram  Koroma  and Muhammad  Touray to a fine of D7,500 in default to serve a one year, six months imprisonment term each after they pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing.

They were said to have been found stealing at Nusrat Senior Secondary School on different dates ranging from March to April 2009 at the school campus in Bundungka  Kunda.

Abdouram  Koroma, a Sierra Leonean and his Gambian counterpart, Muhammad Touray,  had earlier on the trial pleaded not guilty but later on changed their plea. They were said to have 5 bicycles from the school campus. The bikes belong to students and had been stolen while the students were in class.
