Wednesday, September 09, 2009
Ansu Sowe, Gambia's long distance runner has been crowned  winner of the 2009 San Diego Annual 4 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, with  an impressive timing of 20:55 and a pace of 5:14.

Competing alongside  world class field of stars in this 44th edition of the prestigious event, the 23 year old Gambian finished 1st position in the 4 Mile race which produced 197 finishers from the United States and around the world.

Ansu's next port of call will be in Los Angeles (LA) this Saturday where he will partake in an eight kilometre cross country race to be competing by all colleges in the US. Delighted by his performance, the Gambian athlete commended fans for their continuous support and encouragement and vowed to keep up his current form to fly the country's flag higher.

''I extend a special thanks to Gamtel, Gamcel and gamsports.com for their unflinching support in my career. I am training much harder to improve to a higher level and hope I will realise my dream one day,'' he concluded. This is the latest among a series of improvements in the Gambian's career since his arrival on the shores of the United States.
