Dead baby found in Faji Kunda

africa » gambia
Sunday, March 08, 2009
Reports monitored by the Daily Observer reveal that an unidentified mother has dumped her newly delivered baby boy, leaving him to die.

This incidence is reported to have occurred in Faji Kunda Dumos, in the early hours of Friday. Residents of the area have expressed the belief that the mother came from afar to dump the child, as they could not identify any recently pregnant woman in the area. According to eyewitnesses who spoke to this reporter at the scene, the mother had wrapped the poor child in three plastic bags before dumping it on a potato farm.

They described the act as "heinous and a total disregard for human life." Worried residents in the area alleged that the phenomenon is increasingly becoming a common occurrence, hence tasking the relevant authorities to do something to address the situation.
