Detained GPA officials released on bailFriday, February 10, 2012 Officials of the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) who were detained by the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA) in connection with the “missing” fully loaded container(s) at the Port of Banjul have been released on bail and asked to report back to work, a reliable source has informed the Daily Observer. According
to the source, the GPA officials were released on condition that they report to
the Agency whenever they are needed. When
contacted for confirmation, the deputy director general of the Agency, Kalilou
Njie confirmed the release on bail of the detained GPA officials. It would be recalled that some GPA officials were detained for some days at the NDEA HolGam Branch in Kanifing, helping the officers in their investigations relating to the missing container(s).
