DPP takes over prosecution of 2 more ex-judicial officials

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, January 06, 2010
The Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) Richard Chenge, took over the prosecution of two more ex-judicial officials, yesterday, before Magistrate Emmanuel Nkea of the Banjul Magistrates Court.

The two are former Justice Ngui Mboob Janneh and former sheriff of the High Court in Banjul, Ansumana Sonko. When the case came up, the DPP told the court that he was definitely expecting the auditors’ report, which they  promised to bring between 8th and 10th of January 2010.

DPP Chenge stressed that if he does not receive the report between 8th and 10th January, as scheduled, the auditors involved may be put into a very serious trouble. He emphasised that justice delayed is justice denied, and that a word is enough for the wise. The case was adjourned to January 15, 2010 for possible consolidation of all the cases.
