Dr Olugander on 'Giving Back Project'Friday, July 02, 2010 One of the Gambia's international reggae dancehall stars, Dr Olugander, recently embarked on a "Giving Back Project", an initiative that started last year to support local communities across the country. The musical doctor, who has been widely credited for his love for peace in the world in recent years has been in the forefront in promoting his music to all the corners of this country.Under the 'Giving Back Project', he selects a community or school, where he performs, and the proceeds generated from the concerts are ploughed back to that very community or institution to help them in solving some of their needs. This year’s event took him to Wassu Medina Lower and Upper Basic School, in the Central River Region, where he staged cloudburst performances, the proceeds of which were donated to the said school to rehabilitate its toilets, help needy students among a host of other things. "We were on a giving back project to the community. So last week we were playing in Wassu Medina, Upper and Lower Basic School, to support the school in the rehabilitation of the school toilets. More schools and needy students are to be supported in the same way in our Gander's Productions {G.P}projects. It was a nice show and the people love it. And the principal and all the teachers expressed their gratitude," he said, pointing out that his DVD project is in the pipeline featuring virtually all his videos and live performances .
