Africa » Gambia
Thursday, May 21, 2009
Magistrate Fredick Foster of the Bundung Magistrates Court, yesterday granted bail in the sum of D20,000 to one Ebrima Jarjue, a driver, after pleading not guilty to two counts charges of traffic offences.

According to count one, Ebrima Jarjue on the 25th of March 2009 along the coastal highway, Senegambia, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 0703 (F) benz 190 without due care and attention thereby causing an accident. Count two also stated that on the same day and place, Ebrima Jarju was caught driving the 190 benz without valid driving licence. Police prosecutor, Sergeant 1042 Kujabi applied for the case to be adjourned in order to bring his witnesses.

Magistrate Foster therefore granted the application and adjourned the case to June 4.  He granted Ebrima Jarju a court bail in the sum of D20,000 or two Gambian sureties who must deposit their ID Cards to the court registrar.
