Driver denies causing death

One Babucarr  Sanneh,  was on Monday  arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates court,  presided over by Magistrate Lamin George, charged with rash and negligent  act, causing death.

According to the particulars of the offence, on August 21, 2009 along the Senegambia Highway in the Kanifing Municipality, Baboucarr Sanneh drove a motor vehicle (BJL8948 B) in a rash and negligent manner, thereby causing the death of one Momodou Alieu Barry of Kololi.

When the charge sheet was read to him, he however, pleaded not guilty. At that juncture, the police prosecutor, Sergeant 1042 Kujabi applied for the case to be adjourned in order to bring his witness. Magistrate Lamin George granted the application and then ordered that the accused be kept in remand.  The case continues on September 7. In another development, Magistrate Lamin George of the Bundung Magistrates court, on Monday, remanded in  custody one Ousman Suwareh, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of rash and negligent act causing death.

According to the particulars of offence, on August 23, 2009, along Tallinding highway, Ousman Suwareh drove a commercial vehicle with registration number BJL 3979 (F) in a rash and negligent manner, thereby causing the death of one Karamo Manneh. Police Prosecutor Sergeant 1042 Kujabi applied for the case to be adjourned.  He told the court that the prosecution is awaiting legal advice on the case as the file has been sent to the AG's Chambers. Magistrate Lamin George granted the application and adjourned the case to September 7, 2009.
