Police Commissioner Jammeh Conta, head of traffic management unit has called on drivers to always comply with the traffic rules and regulations reiterating the police stance in the protection and maintenance of the Motor Traffic Act and Regulation.

He warned drivers of both commercial and privately own vehicles to desist from non-compliance of the law. He advised commercial drivers to put in place running classes to their vehicles to give passenger convenience, adding that this is strictly a requirement and failure to comply will it, might land a driver to face the full force of the law.

Commissioner Conta made these remarks yesterday during an exclusive interview with this reporter in his Kanifing office. He urged Pedestrians and cyclist to stop obstructing the traffic anytime they are using the road to avoid accidents. He further advised drivers to always pay special attention when they are on the traffic and to also avoid over speeding to make sure they always show courtesy on the high way.

Use of Mobile phones
Commenting on the use of mobile phones while driving, Commissioner Conta again drew the attention of the both commercial and private drivers to desist from using mobile phones while driving to avoid accidents.

Seat belts
According to him, the use of seat belts should be respected by all and sundry as it is a law passed. According to him, the police will not compromise with any driver who did not adhere to the law.

The mobile traffic boss then reminded drivers of the rainy season saying "when the roads sometimes are wet, the vehicle breaks are likely to fail". He urged the drivers to make sure their vehicle breaks and wheel tyres are always in good condition at all times. Commissioner Conta finally urged the general public to support the police by reporting any driver who is non-compliance to the Motor Traffic Act and Regulation to any nearest police station, noting that this will help the  police in reducing the rate of accidents.
