Thursday, August 02, 2012

The Digital Youth Development Association (DYDA), a voluntary youth association on Sunday embarked on a cleaning exercise in Lamin Newtown. The exercise, which involved weeding and collection of waste from homes, is meant to voluntarily raise funds for the association.

The association was established in June 2009, set up by youths who are deeply committed to seeing meaningful changes to the lives of the people, by embarking on a cleaning exercise and farming. The aim of the association is to identify plans and manage ward-based development projects to improve living standards. They also involved in general cleaning of compounds and streets.

Speaking at the exercise, the president of the association, Adama L Bojang, commended all the members for their active participation, noting that cleaning the environment is very important as cleanliness is next to godliness. According to him, this is not the first time the association is embarking on such activity, saying that they will continue to do it every weekend.

For his part, Nuha Sanyang thanked all the members of the association for their turnout, which he said shows their activeness and great concern towards their environment. He said team work is not easy but with determination and courage everything is possible.
