Egalitarian to launch 4th album

Africa » Gambia
Friday, May 18, 2012

A promising Gambian artist - Momodou Lamin Bah, better known by his music sobriquet Egalitarian will launch his fourth album on Sunday 18th May at SunSwing Hotel Resort and Spa formerly Jerma Beach Hotel.

Readers would recall the album which is entitled ‘Ding-Kendo’ in the local Mandinka parlance meaning ‘good son’ was exclusively sponsored by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr Alhajie Yahya Jammeh. Superbly crafted at various recording studios in the country, the eight-track album is the 4th to be released by Egalitarian.

However, the star in recent years has not relented in his quest to push his music to all fronts of the globe thus promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage. Matty Jobe, performing art officer at the National Council for Arts and Culture, explains that Gambian music in recent years is making headway positing that in a few years to come it will move to another step. “The foundation has been laid, it is time for Gambians to start listening to Gambian music and what makes the Gambian music is the Gambian artiste themselves.

Hassoum Ceesay, director of Copyright, commended Egalitarian for the move to produce an album noting that he is one of the promising Gambian musicians. “NCAC will always support and stand by him with his musical carrier” he added, while urging him to keep up the good job.

For his part, Egalitarian said the album is designed to motivate all Gambians and Africans in general to be proud of themselves, their country and to contribute positively in their own nations.”
