Miss Elizabeth Chorr, a model was last Friday crowned Miss Duplex, after emerging tops among 20 contestants at a thrilling model contest held at the Duplex Night Club, near Dream Park off Senegambia Highway.

Organised by Champion Sound Promotions in collaboration with other partners, the model contest was basically meant to showcase the diverse Senegambian culture. The event attracted models from Senegal as well as The Gambia, and was keenly contested. It also attracted scores of fashion designers and a host of other specialists in the modeling industry.

Each of the contestants was last Monday handed a cash amount of D2000 as a consolidation prize, and as a token for their participation. They were also given Duplex Golden cards, which grants them free access into the country's newest entertainment centre free of charge for a period of one years. Addressing the contestants at a presentation ceremony held at the Sea View Garden Hotel, Hatib Janneh, the Chief Executive Officer of Sea View Garden, thanked the contestants for their participation. According to him, the event that was conducted in a peaceful manner will go a long way in promoting the club, which was open to the public earlier this year.

William Brown, a model trainer, disclosed that he was amazed to see the Gambian models on stage in such a fashionable style adding that he was not expecting such glamorous stage appearance from them. Brown equally thanked the organisers for their efforts in bringing the Senegalese and Gambian models together.

For her part, Elizabeth Chorr, the newly crowned Miss Duplex said she has been participating in modeling competitions for quite a while. She however, expressed gratitude to the organisers for organising such a competition. "To be candid right now I am the happiest person on the whole world, and  being crowned as Miss Duplex is a plus for me, considering emerging first out of the number of models who contested during the event. So I want to urge people to patronise Duplex Night club for their family fun day out activities," she said.
