EWDC trained on performance appraisalTuesday, July 13, 2010 The Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) recently organised a two-day training for Essau Ward Development Committee (EWDC) in Lower Nuimi on performance appraisal on community sub-projects. The two-day training was facilitated by Multi-Disciplinary Facilitation Team (MDFT) aimed at enabling members to understand the importance of the training. Speaking at the occasion, Kawsu Marong, the chairman of Essau Ward Development Committee and councillor of the Essau Ward, thanked CDDP for providing a hand pump for the community of Kerr Chandeh and other villages that allowed access to safe and clean drinking water. He said the project will continue to have positive impact on the lives of grassroots people and also empower the communities to take the lead in their own development aspiration. He urged the beneficiaries and ward committees to always support the implementation of the project to effectively bring about positive and sustainable livelihood. For his part, Chief Bakary Nana Sonko of Lower Nuimi, commended the community of Lower Nuimi for their active participation in the implementation of community base projects. He noted that the project will contribute immensely in improving the living standard of the poor.He challenged the beneficiaries to live up to expectation. He assured them of their fullest support to the attainment of project's objectives. The Community Development assistant, Alhagie Gaye, indicated that the objective of the training is to equip Ward Development Committees to play proactive roles in monitoring the performance of community in the sub-projects.He expressed satisfaction over the level of collaboration and support by the communities and ward development committees in the design and implementation of development projects.He called on the beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of development projects.Barr Sarr of Misiranding Village in Lower Nuimi, thanked the organisers for their outstanding support and collaboration to the project.
