Ex-convict reappears before Magistrate Jammeh

Principal Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrate Court has recalled that one Mustapha Bah had recently appeared before him and was convicted.

Principal Magistrate Jammeh made the observation last Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Brikama Magistrate Court where the accused was arraigned in a  criminal charge of assault causing actual bodily harm contrary to section 228 of the criminal code cap 10 vol 3, laws of The Gambia.

The prosecution however revealed that the accused was discharged from Mile II Central Prisons on June 11, 2009 and he was arrested  on June 12, 2009  whilst  he was  drunk. According to the particulars of the offence, the accused was alleged to have willfully and unlawfuly assaulted one Ahmed Hydara in Yuna village in the Kombo North District of Western Region, by hitting him with a stone on his forehead, thereby causing him actual bodily harm. The accused was however ordered to be remanded a Mile II Prsons till June 29, 2009.
