Excursion to Juffureh/Albreda project

africa » gambia
Tuesday, February 10, 2009
The Developing and Sustainable Excursion to Jufurreh/Albreda project, is one of the projects to be reckoned with, as it continues to gain momentum among other tourism projects currently running in The Gambia.

The project sponsored by Travel Foundation, a charitable organization based in the UK and supported by members of the UK based tour operators, kicked off in November 2008. According to Adama Bah, project manager of Travel Foundation, people in business do not only look at the economic aspect of making profit, but contribute socially to places they operate their businesses. "And of course to also contribute towards the environmental preservation of the destination, which is a viable corner stone in tourism development.

Thus, the Developing and Sustainable Excursion to Juffureh/Albreda project was a response to tour operators, complaining and threats to stop Juffureh/Albreda excursion due to  the rise in assaults from the communities" he said.
