FA CUP FINAL TO COINCIDE WITH JULY 22ND CELEBRATION

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, July 12, 2012

The final of the 2012 edition of the Gambia Football Association FA Cup between Gamtel FC and second tier side Interior FC will be played on Sunday July the 22nd at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

This development was announced by the Normalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Association who say they are “pleased to inform the general public that the FA cup final between Gamtel and Interior will be played on Sunday 22nd July 2012 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4.30 pm local time”.

The Chief Patron of Gambia Football Association(GFA) His Excellency Sheikh Prof Dr Alh Yahya AJJ Jammeh, they added has formally accepted the event to be incorporated in the forthcoming anniversary.

“The sports loving Gambian leader has contributed and continues to support the Gambia Football Association (GFA) and its players through life changing gifts such as compounds and the million dalasis to the members of U-17 national team. The general public is therefore urged to turn up in their numbers to mark a memorable FA Cup,” the release concluded.

Tapha Manneh’s Gamtel have won the last two editions of the domestic Cup competition and will be bidding for a record third time. If they win the trophy, they will become the first side to win it three times in succession.

But they will come up against an Interior outfit coached by one of the country’s brightest young coaching talents in Ebrima Manneh, who will be full of confidence against their more illustrious opponents having led the team to the summit of the second division table with a few games still remaining.
