Fair play is bestWednesday, August 12, 2009 Editorial It is an undisputable fact that for the development of the economic sector of any nation to take place, the principles of fair play must govern the economic game. It is therefore necessary to create conditions, effective and effecient trade policies and laws that would ensure meaningful economic growth. The passing into law of the Hoarding Prohibition Act, which now makes it offensive for unscrupulous elements of society to venture into hoarding activities, has come at the appropriate time. The general public, as the law demands, should be vigilant and bring to the attention of the police those who engage in such dubious activities. There is need to support the current leadership its quest to transform this country into a Silicon Valley. This cannot be achieved if our economy remains liable to hoarding activities. The ministry of Trade, Industry and Employment, has yet again manifested that it is not relenting in its efforts to promoting the welfare of the people through a sustained and stable economy. We should therefore put all hands on deck to complement the efforts of the government and the ministry in this respect. Hoarding does not in any way support a decent business. It is the atmosphere of fair play that gives room for competitive business, which in turn leads to the production of quality goods and overall economic development. Those who are fond of engaging in such economically unfriendly activities should from now on understand that their actions have been put to check. They should be honest to themselves and the society at large, and try to work for the common good instead of for their own selfish interest. We therefore congratulate the ministry of Trade, Industry and Employment for this timely intervention in curtailing activities that are threatening the growth of our economy. We also call on the general public to abide by the law and to diligently expose all unscrupulous people who fail to do so. Author: Daily Observer | Media Actions See Also |
