FAJARA CLUB SUSPENDS GOLF ASSOCIATION PREZY![]() Wednesday, August 29, 2012 The president of the Gambia Golf Association (GGA), Ebrima Jawara has told Observer Sports that the Fajara Golf Club said they have suspended his membership from the club despite his nearly four decades’ registered membership. Jawara in an email sent to Bernard Mendy of the club and copied to Observer Sports claimed that it appears what has started out as an allegation of racism against a club committee member by Pa Jatta is getting bigger and bigger, but added he has not even bothered himself to read the letter. Jawara intimated that on August 24th, 2012, Bernard attempted to have Pa
Jatta arrested by giving the police a decorated story, which failed when his
solicitor intervened while he also refunded a cash amount of GMD400, 000 back
to the customer he had disposed land which the club doesn’t own. But reacting on his suspension, Jawara said as there is no provision for suspension of membership in the Fajara Club Rule, he will continue to access the club and golf course facilities as a bonafide member of over 37 years. “Was this suspension an attempt to embarrass me because I exposed the club’s dealings without due process, dealings without due diligence under your chairmanship? You should be thanking me for doing your work for you not getting angry. In another word what you did, in my humble opinion can be regarded as alleged fraud at worst and alleged misrepresentation at best,” Jawara added in the mail. “Unfortunately the truth prevailed and the meeting exposed the club trustees and management as not having a clue as to their own rules, the rules of golf, NSC Act and the Sports Policy. The only thing they had to say was that GGA was run by kids, who should respect their elders - FULL STOP. The reason we respect our elders is because they are full of wisdom. They teach us. We learn from them. They are fountains of virtue and wisdom. But they also take time to listen to those younger than them,” he added. The Fajara club executive was not available for immediate response but we will try and publish their version of the story if available. Author: Baboucarr Camara | Media Actions See Also |
