Africa » Gambia
Friday, August 27, 2010
One Abibou Sowe who was charged with possession of fake documents, yesterday Thursday August 26th pleaded guilty to the charge levelled against him before Magistrate Nkea of the Brikama Magistrates' Court.

At that juncture, the prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Camara tendered the tampered French Passport and some documents that explained that the said Passport was tendered to the court and it was marked as exhibit A.

The accused told the court that the Passport was sold to him and he changed the photos and other things that were relevant to change. Defence counsel for the accused, Buba Jawo said the convict is a first time offender and urged the court to temper justice with mercy. The accused was sentenced to pay a fine of D6, 000 in default to serve two (2) years imprisonment.
