Farmers trained on governance & management

Over 38 representatives from various farmer associations in The Gambia on Monday embarked on a day long training workshop on governance and management,held at the National Coordinating Organisation of Farmers’ Association The Gambia (NACOFAG), in Brikama, West Coast region (WCR).


Njaga Jawo, the resource person, emphasised the importance of sustainable agriculture to the socio- economic development of the country. He revealed that good governance is attributable to basic steps in decision making and that accountability issuesare addressed to the secretary and board members in every organisation. He then urged the participants to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the training.


The national coordinator of the Network of Farmer Associations, Alieu Sowe, aslo noted that the board members and the secretary ought to carry the duties and implement the agricultural programmes. He explained that organising advocacy programmes strengthens farmers’ awareness and improve practices in crop and livestock production.
