The Forum for African Women Educationists (FAWEGAM) the Gambia chapter on Friday November 28th organised its annual Dinner and Dance at the Paradise Suites Hotel.

The programme, which has now been a yearly event for FAWEGA was aimed at raising funds to support its Girls Education project. Money raised from this year's occasion will be invested in building a multipurpose centre and a secretariat that will be used as a refuge for girls and women's skills training centre.

A similar programme organised last year has enabled FAWEGAM raised over D200, 000 and has during the course of this year alone provided scholarships for over 900 children in the Western Region.

The Forum for African Women Educationists (FAWE) as a Pan-African Non-Governmental Organisation with its Headquarters in Nairobe, Keniya,  aims to accelerate the pace of achievement of the Education for All Girls by African countries and since its establishment in The Gambia in 1996, the organisation has been addressing issues of access, retention and performance of girls in school.

FAWE together with its partners works at the continental, national and local levels to create positive societal attitudes, policies and practices aiming to promote gender equality and equity for girls education in Africa by fostering access to retention, performance and good quality education.

FAWE The Gambia chapter alias, FAWEGAM envisions world in which gender disparities in education are eliminated thus enabling the African girl to access and perform well and complete her studies without any unnecessary hindrance.
