Female National team coach bannedTuesday, June 09, 2009 Mariama Bom Sowe, the assistant coach of the Gambia National female team has been handed a four-match ban by the National female League Committee. Mrs Sowe, who also doubles as head of Interior female team, was suspended alongside Interior FC player, Sereh Jatta, and Kebba Bah of Company Ten for their involvement in a fracas that ensued during and after Interior's league match against Company Ten in the top flight of the female league. Sanna Jarju, the secretary general of the Gambia Football Association female league committee, confirmed the suspension of the trio in an interview with Observer Sports, adding that Sereh Jatta and Kebba Bah will serve three and two-match bans respectively. Bom Sowe was reported to have slapped a Company Ten player in Maimuna Barry during the match which Interior narrowly won 2-1, while Company Ten's Bah was said to have assaulted a match official who was trying to verify the eligibility of a Company Ten player before the kick-off. Meanwhile, The Gambia National Female team's purported trip to Guinea Bissau for a friendly football encounter has been aborted. The Gambian team, who are preparing for the upcoming Wafu Cup competition fixed for July in Nigeria, were billed to leave Banjul today for the West African country via Cassamance today.
