Female U-17 World Cup qualification laudedFriday, April 13, 2012 Following
the first ever qualification of the Gambia female U-17 football team to the
world cup finals in Azerbaijan later this year, Alhagie K. Mbaye, head of
customs operations in the Upper River Region has joined other Gambians in
paying homage to the team for what he described as historic in the annals of
Gambian sports.
Mbye, who was speaking in a telephone interview with this reporter, said the teenagers have proved to the world that The Gambia despite its size can make it to the world cup. He urged them to work hard in order to raise the country’s flag high at the World Cup. He also called on individuals, NGOs, institutions and government to give full support to the team.
