One of the commercial joints where you can quickly get rid of hunger or enjoy time-out with family and friends is restaurant and bar. It is a commercial enterprise that prepares and serves food and drinks to their numerous customers.

The restaurateur of this new yet household joint is Lamin Junior Saine, a music and video film producer, programme director that also works with Paradise FM, one of the popular radio stations in The Gambia. In a chat with Lamin Junior Saine, the CEO of Fiila Fast Food Restaurant and bar said this is the number three of his restaurant since the number one and two are at Kairaba and Brusubi turntable respectively.


The restaurant and bar has gradually become a household name in Gambia’s small scale enterprise as it is making a good impression within the shortest period of its existence. The young producer-turned restaurateur said Fiila Fast Food Restaurant and Bar is affordable not to only the tourists but also to residents of any community Fiila operates. The restaurant is quick to be in limelight through their television programme, on air every Monday, coupled with the quality service they provide to their customers.


It is not only on Facebook you can meet friends; hence the restaurant is also a social place for young and old, men or women. So this makes it an opportune place where you can meet friends, relatives and as well make some new friends.


With this new branch in Bakoteh/Sukuta highway, on your visit you will definitely discover new life and things and as well you will enjoy food and drinks with good environment. The location is chosen for relaxation especially tourists and others that need good and comfortable place to chat and be cooled with friends. Customers at the joint are always treated and got infected with the Gambian smile and hospitality.


Fiila Restaurant and Bar, according to Lamin, are well prepared for the next tourist season, as they are ready to treat their customers like kings and queens. Lamin Junior Saine, who wishes Fiila Fast Food Bar and Restaurant to be like McDonald, said he got the inspiration of what he is doing from his family and he was able to do things with the help of Fiila’s good team because it is with their efforts Fiila is progressing.


His main focus now is how to grow bigger to be able to take part in the national commitment and contribute his own quota to the tourism industry. It is also in his dream to look at ways of improving its operations and series, and transform it into a big time recruiter so that more citizens can work with him.


At Fiila Fast Food Restaurant and Bar you can enjoy different menues like baked chicken, shrimps pancake, cheesy pie, meat pie, butter fish, Fiila special burger, chicken cake, assorted drinks range from local juice among other fast food menues, that go with soft music in this serene environment. Fiila render catering services for wedding, naming ceremonies among others. However, Friday and Saturday are always groovy days as they always make it a chill out and bubble environment for their clients. It is a good joint for the tourists.


Lamin said he always puts the interest of The Gambia at the forefront of his venture as his future plans are concerned. What you can enjoy in the restaurants and bars of big hotels are also available in Fiila. In their menu, what customers request for can be provided in a jiffy without wasting time. The staff are all well trained and work together as a team and as well as a family.


The restaurateur said he is more than proud to be associated with the tourism industry. “Fiila is my main source of income. There are many young people like me that are having hope on tourism industry for sustenance. So its important we support the industry to grow in order for us to become big in it and reap the dividend,” he said.


However, he wants other young entrepreneurs to be supported and encouraged in the industry, saying “if small businesses like mine are supported we will do a lot for the communities around us. I am therefore using this opportunity to call on the big time stakeholders in the industry to help, guide and encourage the young ones so that they can become big like them, because it is one of the best ways to improve the living standard of people, especially the youth”.
