Fiila to celebrate third anniversary![]() Friday, June 01, 2012 After three years fascinating and entertaining series on the state media, Fiila crew is celebrating its third anniversary, as was done last year, in grand style with two nights of unlimited entertainment at two venues. To mark the
event, Fiila Crew is organising a grand performances tonight June 1st at
Jakarlo, Senegambia and on Saturday June 2nd all roads will lead to Jokor
Brikama, for another spectacular performance by the Gambia’s finest sensations.
With tickets tagged at D75 before midnight with a free bottle of drink, music
enthusiasts are assured of entertainment to the max. As a matter of fact, Mediamatic and Black Lynx, independently produce the hit television show on the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), and the forces behind the Fiila are the same talented youngsters who introduced the monthly ‘Open Mic’ as well as the annual ‘Open Mic Festival’, which is designed to unearth and bring to limelight the country’s hidden talents. To be precise, the initiative, which started in May 2009, has been one of the most popular and watched shows on the National television, GRTS. The
television show even though centres more on entertainment also deals with a lot
of social issues relevant to the society and when it airs weekly on Monday
night at 10:30pm on GRTS, people of different ages are glued to their
television screens to watch this fascinating entertainment showpiece. ‘Fiila’, which is a word derived from the local Wolof language meaning ‘Its Here’, depicting and promoting homemade talent and resources is brought to our TV screens by two formidable presenters who are accomplished media personalities namely Francis Abdul Malik Mendy aka Xmyls and Mam Malen Njie aka Blacka Shine. The events will feature performances from some of Gambia’s finest sensations such as SingAteh, Jali Madi, Gee, Bro K and T Smallz and these artists will be backed by the Humanity Band. In an
interview with What’s On, Wagan said: “I don’t think anyone can deny the value
that Fiila has added not only to GRTS but also to The Gambia as a nation, the
lives of the viewers and fans by entertaining and educating us weekly not to
mention the artists that are featured on the program and the whole music scene
