A serious fire outbreak last Thursday, 21st January 2010, ravaged the dwelling houses of one Isatou Bayo and one Modou Lamin Ceesay, and a shop beloging to one Alagie Saibo Njie, all in the same compound in Bakau Newtown.

The socked and sad looking victim, Isatou Bayo, explaining the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak to the Daily Observer, said the fire outbreak was caused by a candle which was left burning in the house by the children. According to her, the candle first burnt the table before setting ablaze  the household materials like beds, school materials, chairs amongst others. She added that the fire later caught the other house, Modou Lamin Ceesay’s, whose school materials and a mobile phone were burnt as well as the entire shop of Alagie Saibo Njie.

For his part, Alagie Saibou Njie, the shopkeeper, said is a big loss for him, adding that some went pretending to help them put off the fire and  looted lots of his materials. Anybody who wants to assist the victims can contact on: 7277069 or 7775332.
