First Lady begins tour of health facilities

The First Lady of the Republic, Her Excellency Madam Zineb Yahya Jammeh Tuesday embarked on a three-day tour of health facilities within the Greater Banjul Area. The First Lady is accompanied on the tour by the minister of Health and Social Welfare, Fatim Badjie and the minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Fatou Lamin Faye; as well as other senior government officials.


Her first port of call was the Faji Kunda Health Centre where she was received by the officer-in-charge of the facility, Lamin Marong and Staff, who highlighted the achievements of the health centre in 2011 through a power point presentation. From Fajikunda, the First Lady and delegation proceeded to the Jammeh Foundation for Peace Hospital in Bundung where she was also warmly received by the senior management of the hospital and staff. She was later led on a conducted tour of the facilities of the hospital.


Madam Jammeh wrapped-up the day’s activity at Serrekunda Health Centre, where she was received by the Officer-In-Charge, Rohey Jammeh. The First Lady and delegation visited the Labour Ward, Tuberculosis Laboratory and the Outpatient Ward of the centre. The tour continues today with the First Lady expected to visit the Poly Clinic in Banjul, Serekunda General Hospital and BakauHealth Centre respectively.
