Fisco hails Brufut Tourney

The chairman of the Normalisation Committee of the Gambia Football Association, Fisco Conateh has expressed his satisfaction with the smooth conclusion of the maiden Brufut Inter-Ward Football Championship.


Conateh was speaking to Observer Sports in an exclsusive interview following the final game of the competition between Sateba B and Wulinkamma played at the village’s football field at the weekend. The day long event bagen with the finalof the female competition which was won by Red Cross who beat Brufut Gilkock Academy 1-0 with the game’s only goal scored by Jainaba.


Following a goalless stalemate after regulation time, the game was forced into a gruesome post-match penalty shoot-out which was eventually won by Wulinkamma. As winners, Wulinkamma went home with a giant trophy and a cash price of D2,500 while Sateba B went home with a consolation price of D2,000.


Speaking shortly after the final whistle, Conateh hailed the people of Brufut for their dedication to not only football but also to many other things whilehoping that they will soon come up with a team that will make the village proud.
