Tuesday, August 04, 2009
Total Gambia Limited recently gave awards to five corps members of the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) certificates who had undergone a twenty-two month training in entrepreneurship and enterprise development at the total headquarters in Bakau.

Speaking at the ceremony, the vice president of Total Gambia Limited, Albert Roger Boum, said "in 2007, we decided to form a partnership with the NYSS and all started with a request to sponsor the scheme." He added that they found it necessary to develop this kind of partnership that will develop more added values to the relationship by also absorbing the outstanding young people into the total network.

The deputy permanent secretary for the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Abdoulie M Kah, said the award ceremony organised by total for the corp members marked yet another historical event in the NYSS calendar. "I implore the corps members and youths in general to avail themselves of the opportunities offered by the scheme, to make their individual and collective contribution towards the development of our great and beloved nation," he stated.

He thanked His Excellency, the president of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, for his encouragement and commitment to the success of the NYSS programme. For his part, the executive director of the National Youth Srvices Scheme, Musa Mbye, said the training aims to unlock the potential for creating more and better jobs in the small enterprise sector. Ya Penda Saho delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the corps members of NYSS.
